How it works.
Net monthly burn = cash outflow − cash inflow. Runway in months = available cash ÷ positive net monthly burn.
Know the assumptions
Assumes steady monthly inflows and outflows, beginning with the available cash entered. Use cash actually available to spend, excluding restricted funds. Seasonal changes, one-off payments and new financing are excluded.
Common questions.
Is revenue the same as cash inflow?
No. Use cash collected during the month, rather than unpaid invoices or booked revenue.
What if cash inflow exceeds outflow?
There is no cash depletion under those constant assumptions. The tool reports this instead of claiming an infinite guaranteed runway.
